We finally went to Stephanie Izard’s Little Goat. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Everything was so good. Goat meat is so good. It tastes somewhere between lamb and beef. Goat Chili Cheese Fries are the winner of the universe. So good. I still have dreams about these babies. Fried pickles and onion rings. Curry mayo forever. …

The traditional Christmas pierogies. We have a plethora of choices: meat, potato, potato and bacon, kraut, cherry, and strawberry. Here’s everyone hard at work in the kitchen.
Whoops, I slipped
and threw in way too much pancetta…or is there such a thing? Delicious and meaty pan-roasted Brussels sprouts. Browned to perfection. One of my favorites.
Kale Sprouts – give these greens a chance
Kale Sprouts! Who knew? They taste and have a similar texture to Brussels sprouts, just a little bit thicker and kale-ier. I just covered them in olive oil and TJ’s Everyday Seasoning. Then, I baked them in the oven for about 20 minutes for 400 degrees. So good, they didn’t even make it onto a …

Spooky and Delicious
Have you every seen a gingerbread haunted Halloween house? TJ’s came out with this for the first time this year. I could eat the whole thing without building it. Peter and I built this together to celebrate Halloween. Check out those spooky candy bones and bats.

One of my favorite childhood treats is the Choco Taco. A sugar cone shaped like a taco shell, chocolate and vanilla swirled ice cream as the filling, and nuts and chocolate on top, make this a delightful dessert. They are so hard to find nowadays, but I found one at a little convenience store in …
My happy place at O’Hare Airport

Rick Bayless utilizes local suppliers for the freshest ingredients. My favorite torta is the Choriqueso with chorizo, poblano rajas, jack cheese, …
Mars Cheese Castle
Since I was a kid, every time we went to Wisconsin, we passed the Mars Cheese Castle, but we never stopped. On this last trip, I finally stopped there. It’s an awesome emporium of fun foods, cheese, and beer. Plus, it’s shaped like a castle. I had a delicious Wisconsin brat with all the works.
Mother’s day perfection
To celebrate my awesome mom, we of course need to have an awesome dessert. This is from Scooter’s Frozen Custard in Chicago. Scooter’s makes their custard fresh every day from scratch. Smooth and creamy frozen turtle custard pie. What a beauty!
